Certification

What is Fabric Certification?

Manufacturers can apply to outside organizations to test their fabrics for harmful substances or unsafe chemicals to make sure that they're providing the best possible products to their consumers. We also have certification for our recycled products to make sure that they meet the requirements of these organizations for optimal practices. Below you will find a few of the leaders in this field as well as a short description of what they do. All of our textiles that have certificates proving their safety are clearly identified on the product page. For more information regarding the individual companies that have provided certification click on the the logo of that company.
OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 is a label for textiles tested for harmful substances. It sets the benchmark for textile safety, from yarn to finished product. Every item bearing the STANDARD 100 label is certified as having passed safety tests for the presence of harmful substances. For example: these fabrics are tested for PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) and PFCs (perfluorinated chemicals), chemicals that take a very long time to break down and have a lasting negative impact on the environment. Our fabrics are guaranteed safe to be in contact with the skin (Class II) and some of them are even certified safe for babies (Class I). The Class I items are also tested for possibly harmful chemicals to the environment.
GOTS is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for Organic Fibres including Enviromental Criteria, backed up by Third-Party Certification of All Processing Stages. GOTS certified final products may include fibre products, yarns, fabrics, clothes, home textiles, mattresses, personal hygiene products, as well as food contact textiles and more.
The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) set the criteria for the third-party certification of recycled materials and chain of custody. The GRS includes a higher (50%) minimum recycled content percentage and additional social and environmental requirements related to processing and chemical use.
As compared with generic viscose, the production of LENZING™ ECOVERO™ has a substantially smaller environmental footprint. We strive to help build a cleaner and greener world by taking less from the environment, maximizing resource efficiency and minimizing waste in the production process.
The Organic Content Standard (OCS) is an international, voluntary standard that provides chain of custody verification for materials originating on a farm certified to recognized national organic standards. The standard is used to verify organically grown raw materials from the farm to the final product.
